Honda Activa celebrates One Crore unit sales landmark
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has now set a new record. India’s iconic Honda Activa has become the 1st scooter in India to achieve a phenomenal 1 Crore unit sales landmark. Activa first debuted in India in the year 2001 as the very first 2-wheeler(scooter) by Honda, where it reactivated the dying Indian automatic scooter market and redefined convenient mobility for the entire family.
Activa is now in existence from decades and comes with features like superior 4-stroke engine, Honda Eco Technology (that is capable of delivering a dream mileage of 60kmpl), V-matic (gearless) transmission, fully durable metal body, convenient Lift-up Independent Cover (CLIC) mechanism, tubeless tyres and combi-brake system. Honda Activa ensures convenience like never before.
Honda Activa is now backed by the trust of existing Indian customers, the two wheeler maker made a steep climb from 55,000 units in first year (2001) to becoming the market leader in a short span of 3 years. Since then, Honda Activa has grown to sell more than 2.1 million units in Financial Year 2014 to 2015 and Honda two wheelers is now the undisputed market leader with 59 percent market share in the scooter segment.
After crossing the 1 crore landmark, expressing the delight, Mr. Keita Muramatsu who is the President & CEO at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) said,
This achievement is more significant since Activa (an automatic scooter) has gained the trust of One Crore happy families in India. Further elaborating on how Honda Activa is changing the state of Indian Two wheeler industry, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria who is the Senior Vice President at Sales & Marketing at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) said,
A decade ago who would have bet that a scooter would once again be the largest selling two-wheeler in India. But today, Activa has broken the glass ceiling. First, it is only automatic scooter which has become India’s No. 1 Selling 2Wheeler (in June’15, July’15). Secondly, backed by its demand, Honda has become the First Manufacturer to sell more than 2.5 lac scooters in a single month ever in July’15. We believe this demand for automatic scooters will continue to rise. And to further extend its undisputed market leadership and meet the future demand, Honda will continue to innovate its products and services.
