Kawasaki has launched its entry-level sports bike, the Ninja 300, at Rs 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Making the baby Ninja, the most affordable Kawasaki offering in India thanks to heavy localization which helped bring down the cost of the motorcycle significantly. Customers who are pre-booking the motorcycle will also get a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty for free.
Previously Ninja 300 was priced at Rs 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom, India), Priced Rs 62,000 more than the new Model. Kawasaki is now priced closer to the KTM RC 390 (Rs 2.39 lakh), and it also undercuts the Yamaha R3 (Rs 3.48 lakh) (both prices, ex-showroom).
The 2018 Ninja 300 is powered by the same 296cc parallel-twin engine that produces 39hp and 27Nm of torque. This motor is mated to a six-speed transmission and gets a slipper clutch as standard. Braking duties are taken care by a 290mm single disc up front and a 220mm disc at the rear, the Ninja 300 also gets dual-channel ABS as standard.
At this price point, the Ninja 300 is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the recently launched, BMW G 310 R that is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, India). It’s worth mentioning that the BMW is powered by a single-cylinder motor, while the Ninja 300 is a twin-cylinder motorcycle.
