Ford Recalls 40,000 units of Figo hatchback and Aspire
A report from Times Of India revealed that 40,000 units of new Ford Figo cars (including both hatchback and Aspire) would be recalled in order to fix a faulty software issue that affected the functioning of airbags. Ford will be officially make a recall announcement later today to inform its customers about the recall.
Last year, during the festive season Ford launched next generation Figo and a compact sedan Aspire. Reports confirm that more than half of the 40,000 units are hatchbacks. Currently, Ford has completely stopped the deliveries of both Figo Aspire and Figo Sedan because of this issue. The software fix will fix the issue connecting to malfunctioning of airbags and the new cars are going to be delivered only once the issue has been fixed.
The Figo Aspire compact sedan started off quite strongly, however the sales reports reveal that Aspire was not able to sustain its initial sales momentum. The new Figo cars which are already on the road, Ford will be exclusively handle concerned customers individually. The Software fix / update would take around 2 to 3 hours of installation time and the affected customers will not be billed for the same.
The hatchback and the Aspire are manufactured at Ford India’s Sanand plant in Gujarat. These two Figo models constitutes an important part of the car maker’s Indian portfolio although the sales are not as the initial expectations.
