Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan today launched the KATANA in India. The development process of KATANA closely resemble the arduous process of creating the Japanese sword from which the model’s name is derived.

Under the product concept, ‘Forging a New Street Legend’, the KATANA was developed to be a sporty-looking standard street motorcycle. KATANA takes lean, mean retro flair and evolves it to offer thoroughly modern styling and performance. The motorcycle is built to deliver an exciting ride. It is designed to provide easy control along with power and comfortable riding position.

Since, its inception in 1981, KATANA has been winning riders’ hearts around the world. In fact, the KATANA launched in India also pays its due tribute to the legendary model. It has been updated both in terms of looks and performance to lead in every scenario.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said,

“We feel proud to announce the launch of the KATANA in India. The KATANA reflects Suzuki’s ongoing commitment to fine craftsmanship and its willingness to sweat every detail to get them right. The launch is a part of our strategy to solidify our big bike portfolio in the country. We received a lot of queries from motorcycle enthusiasts after showcasing the KATANA in the last auto expo. It is basis the positive feedback of our potential customers that we decided to introduce the KATANA in India. We are confident that the KATANA will be able to make its own cult following in India too.”

At the heart, SUZUKI KATANA is powered by a 999cm3 four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline-four engine to deliver 112 kW (152 PS) / 11,000 RPM power and 106 N-m / 9,250 RPM torque. The motorcycle is armed with Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) which comes with a variety of advanced electronic control systems. S.I.R.S. features Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System, Low RPM Assist and Suzuki Easy Start System.

Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) offer a wider selection of 5 mode settings (+ OFF) and fits a more diverse variety of riding conditions and styles. This in turn instills greater confidence in the rider, regardless of experience, while reducing stress and fatigue.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) is designed to offer a choice between three different modes that change output characteristics — especially when turning the throttle grip between a slightly open position to when it reaches the top of the mid-speed range under acceleration to match riding conditions or preferences. The settings for each mode were custom-tuned and thoroughly tested to build in the flexibility to better adapt to changing weather, road and riding conditions and optimize performance to make the overall riding experience more enjoyable.

Ride-by-Wire Electronic Throttle System which adds value to your overall riding experience by enabling new electronic control systems. Low RPM Assist suppresses engine stalls and helps ensure better control and operation in stop-and-go traffic. Suzuki Easy Start System enables the rider to start the engine with one quick press.

KATANA’s Lightweight Chassis is engineered to provide agility, ease of control and fun-to-ride character. Upright riding position to provide optimum control and maximum comfort, even on longer rides. Multi-functional instrument cluster is fully LCD and comes with adjustable brightness.

KATANA design features a vertically stacked LED headlight with a unique rectangular shape and LED front position lights that accentuates the sharp look of KATANA’s face. At the back, the LED tail light and brake light provide a distinctive design. All these features make KATANA stand apart without compromising on the performance and comfort.

Suzuki KATANA will be available at all the company’s Bike zone dealerships for INR 13,61,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) after 04 July 2022. The motorcycle will be offered in 2 color variants, 1) Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and 2) Metallic Mystic Silver
