From Sugarcane to the Streets: Prudential Sugar Corporation Enters the EV Market with a Sweet Deal

In a move that has the market buzzing, Prudential Sugar Corporation Limited, a company known for its sweet success in manufacturing sugar and allied products, is making a surprising leap into the world of electric vehicles. The company has announced its entry into the two-wheeler and three-wheeler EV segment through a strategic acquisition.

This isn’t just a casual test drive. Prudential Sugar Corporation has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to acquire a substantial 76% equity stake in Senatla Innovative EV Components Private Limited. The deal, valued at approximately ₹4.00 crore, will make Senatla Innovative EV Components a 76% subsidiary of the sugar giant.

From Sugarcane to EVs: Prudential Sugar’s Shocking New Venture

Senatla Innovative EV Components Private Limited is already a player in the manufacturing and sale of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. With this new partnership, they plan to significantly expand their capacities. The company aims to achieve a turnover of ₹5 crore per month by March 2026, with plans to scale this up to ₹10-₹15 crore per month by March 2027.

While you won’t be getting a bag of sugar with your new electric scooter, this “sweet deal” is a clear sign of a major business diversification. It highlights how companies are moving beyond their traditional industries to capitalize on the rapidly growing EV market.
