Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda) announced the appointment of Mr. Toshiyuki Yanagisawa as the new President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) w.e.f. October 1, 2026. Mr. Toshiyuki Yanagisawa, Operating Executive of Honda is currently heading India Strategic Development Office and is also the CEO of Honda Digital Innovation India Pvt. Ltd. (HDII). In his new role, he will jointly lead HCIL and HDII.
Honda has positioned North America, Japan and India as priority markets for its future growth strategy. The India Strategic Development Office has been working to develop India focused strategies and execution plans to support the expansion of Honda’s business in the growing Indian market. The initiatives related to the India-focused strategic vehicle planned for launch in 2028 have now entered the execution phase.

Mr. Toshiyuki Yanagisawa among his previous global assignments has also worked in India at HCIL and possess a strong understanding of India’s automotive market, its consumers and the business environment.
The current President & CEO of HCIL – Mr. Takashi Nakajima will move to regional headquarters in Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. after completing his India tenure.
