Bajaj Auto, the world’s leading manufacturer of 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers, inaugurated its new manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil in a ceremony attended by the Governor of the state of Amazon and other dignitaries, dealers, and business partners. This milestone further strengthens the position of Bajaj Auto’s as the “World’s Favourite Indian.” Bajaj Auto’s global footprint and customer franchise continue to grow, with Vehicles manufactured by it now being sold in a 100 countries.
Building local capabilities
Situated at Av. do Turismo, nº 13.529 – Bairro Tarumã, the new plant has an area of 9,600 square meters and features the latest in manufacturing technology. Equipped with cutting-edge engine assembly, vehicle assembly, and testing facilities, the plant has a production capacity of 20,000 units per year, operating on a single shift. Its strategic location in Manaus leverages the substantial fiscal benefits offered by the State as well as proximity to supply chains and major transportation hubs.
State-of-the-Art Manufacturing
The Manaus plant has been designed with advanced, automated production lines and integrated quality control systems. Multiple conveyor and transfer systems seamlessly connect various stages of manufacturing. Utilizing the Protheus ERP system, operations are streamlined across manufacturing, supply chain management, finance, and HR. Initially, the plant will focus on manufacturing Dominar models and later Pulsar models when they become available for introduction.
Completion in record time
Work for the Plant commenced in June 2023 and the plant became production-ready within a year. The initial phase concentrated on the sourcing, assembly, and testing of Dominar models, with plans to expand to additional product lines. The facility has achieved ISO certification for its production processes, underscoring the commitment to quality and operational excellence. Bajaj do Brasil has successfully integrated local suppliers and begun sourcing key motorcycle parts and components from within Manaus.

At the inauguration, Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd., expressed his enthusiasm: “With the establishment of our own plant in Brazil we have achieved a quantum shift in our local capability to fulfil demand. Bajaj do Brasil has provided for plans to expand the facility further in due course to accommodate additional production capacity to upto 50,000 units per year.
