Citroën India announces the readiness of CNG retrofitment for the Citroën C3 hatchback, enhancing the model’s value proposition with a sustainable and cost-effective fuel alternative. The C3 CNG will now be available across Citroën dealerships via a certified retrofitment program, aligning with the brand’s commitment to accessible and responsible mobility.

The Citroën C3 CNG is tailored for customers who want lower running costs and reduced emissions, while still enjoying the C3’s signature comfort, performance, and distinctive design. This retrofitment delivers an eco-friendly solution without compromising the core strengths that define the C3 experience.

Key Highlights of the Citroën C3 CNG Kit:

  • Eco-Friendly, Economical with Dual Fuel Convenience: Factory-tested CNG kit delivers mileage up to 28.1 km/kg**, significantly reducing fuel expenses. Significant reduction in tailpipe emissions and lower fuel expenses, contributing to a cleaner environment. Offers the flexibility of switching between petrol and CNG, addressing range anxiety while ensuring uninterrupted mobility.
  • High Efficiency & Smooth Performance: Factory-engineered calibration of the fuel management system ensures refined drive quality and optimal engine efficiency even with alternate fuel use with a running cost of INR 2.66 per/km#.
  • Seamless Integration: Engineered exclusively for Citroën C3 1.2 NA variants (Live, Feel, Feel(O) & Shine), ensuring compatibility and reliable performance.
  • Warranty Coverage: Backed by comprehensive 3-year/100,000 km vehicle warranty and CNG Components^ for added peace of mind.
  • Compact & Convenient: The CNG system is integrated without compromising the boot space, and the spare wheel remains accessible, ensuring utility remains intact. The CNG nozzle is smartly integrated within the petrol filler port, ensuring ease of access during refueling.
  • Suspension Comfort Kit: Specially tuned rear shock absorbers, reinforced suspension springs, and an anti-roll bar deliver a planted and comfortable ride, preserving Citroën’s hallmark advance comfort suspension providing flying carpet ride even with added CNG kit.

The CNG retrofitment will be available only at Company Authorised Dealership using certified kits and processes, adhering to Citroën’s stringent quality standards. Each vehicle undergoes a thorough pre-delivery inspection—including checks for cylinder integrity, leak detection, pressure regulation, and seamless fuel switching—to ensure complete compliance with safety and emission norms.

Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director – Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said:

“We are pleased to introduce the CNG retrofitment option for the Citroën C3, reinforcing our commitment to provide accessible, economical, and eco-conscious mobility solutions. This initiative will enable our customers to experience Citroën comfort and design while benefitting from the cost-efficiency and environmental advantages of CNG. As CNG infrastructure rapidly expands across India—with more than 7,400 stations expected nationwide by FY2025—Citroën India is proud to offer solutions aligned with the country’s evolving fuel ecosystem and environmental goals.”

Shishir Mishra, Business Head & Director – Strategic Partnerships & Institutional Business, Stellantis India, added: “

The CNG-enabled C3 is a strategic step forward for institutional customers, especially fleet operators, ride-share drivers, and last-mile mobility providers who value operational savings without compromising on quality and reliability. With Citroën’s comfort DNA and dual fuel flexibility, this variant is tailor-made for high-usage applications.”

C3 CNG retrofitment will be offered at an additional price of INR 93,000 across authorized Citroën dealerships pan-India.

I purchased the C3X LIVE on 23rd September 2025. On the very first day itself, when I drove the car for around 200 kilometers, I experienced some major issues. While driving, whenever I apply the brake or accelerate, the gear lever moves back and forth, and the car also makes noise.

My car is still at the dealership. According to the dealership, this is normal, and they are forcing me to take the car as it is. However, in my personal opinion, there is some technical issue that needs to be fixed, otherwise, it may cause serious problems in the future.
Please suggest me what to do.

Please check with fellow C3X owners in car clubs/group on FB etc and discuss this issue. May I know which city are you from?
