After sending out media invitation for the announcement of its new electric scooter, Honda 2 Wheelers India Today has released yet another teaser revealing more details about its upcoming electric scooter. The teaser released by Honda features loading of battery into the under seat storage of the EV.
The video reveals a person picking a fully charged battery from the charging station and placing it on the dedicated charging slot within the scooter under the seat. It is important to note the scooter has dual batteries and 2 charging slots are visible as shown in the teaser.
Honda’s release of the teaser confirms that the Japanese 2-wheeler manufacturer will be using the battery swapping technology primarily. There is no clarity yet if Honda’s upcoming EV can be directly charged using an on-board charger (similar to Ather). The previous teasers by Honda confirms that the EV will be having atleast 104 kms of range and to get digital display with navigation and more advanced tech features. The company will leverage the existing network of Honda e:swap charging stations / swap zones to solve the range anxiety. Already Honda e:swap battery stations are available in cities like Bengaluru and it can be seen at the premises of metro stations. Honda e:swap is currently offering battery swapping service to 3-wheelers and other Light commercial vehicles. With the announcement of Honda’s electric scooter, it is expected the Honda e:swap network may increase drastically across all major cities in India starting from Bengaluru.
