Ford plans to ship India-made Ford EcoSport to US
Ford, the American based car maker is working out a strategy to export Indian made Ford EcoSport compact SUVs to the United States. This is a positive sign for PM Modi’s Make in India campaign- as Ford looks forward to manufacture the car in India and to sell it Abroad.
Earlier in 2014, Ford was looking out for countries like India and Thailand to manufacture the cars in order to ship it to US. The new developments suggests that the parent company is in talks with Ford India for locally manufacturing the cars here.
Ford India’s popular compact sport utility vehicle EcoSport shall be shipped to United States for sale starting from the month of October in 2017, people in the internal team familiar with the process said.
Mark Fields who is chief executive of Ford Moto said about this development,
In business, you never rule out from the beginning certain opportunities. But it all comes down to making sure first and foremost that wherever the product is manufactured, you want to make sure that it is high quality and meets the expectations of consumers
Till date, No United States car manufacturer has ever exported cars which are made in India back to its home. If Ford gets the green signal, it shall mark a historic thing for both America and India.
