Leading Indian Automotive Companies Exhibit in Melbourne
The Victorian Government of Australia, hosted a gathering of leading Indian automotive companies in Melbourne on 10th August, 2015, as part of the Australian Innovation Showcase.
Victoria has been the home of Australia’s automotive manufacturing sector for more than a 100 years. It employs over 25,000 people, exports up to A$2 billion annually and is responsible for 75 per cent of the nation’s automotive R&D.
The list of Indian companies include:
- L&T Technology Services Ltd.
- Maruti Suzuki India Limited
- Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM)
- TVS Motor Company Limited
- Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)
- The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)
As part of the visit, the Indian delegates visited the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation CSIRO); Australia’s national research agency and one of the largest scientific research organisations in the world. CSIRO has a number of key technologies which are important for the future of green mobility like light metal component technologies, vehicle electrification, alternative fuels, life cycle and recycling technologies. They also visited the Swinburne University of Technology’s Electric Vehicle Research Group which is dedicated to research and development of EV and related transport technologies.
Victoria’s automotive industry is also one of the few global locations with complete design, engineering, and manufacturing capability. Victoria is known for its clusters of excellence in automotive design and tooling, combined with world-class research and development capabilities. The State is also home to 70 per cent of Australia’s automotive component manufacturers, whose products compete strongly in the international arena.
