Mahindra Quanto Facelift to be launched this year in India
Mahindra and Mahindra, the Indian automaker is working on a facelift version of its compact SUV Quanto. The company said it has plans to launch the compact SUV Quanto this year. Mahindra is planning to reposition Quanto as an SUV by releasing the facelift version of Mahindra Quanto.
The initial version of Quanto was an MUV (Multi-Purpose Utility Vehicle) and has borrowed looks from Mahindra Xylo – yet another popular car from Mahindra. In the past, Quanto has failed to meet expectations of the Indian automaker. In the year 2014-2015 (between April and March) – Mahindra Quanto was sold more than 1900 when compared to 52,000 units of Ford EcoSport.
What Mahindra is trying to do is, it is providing fresh look for the Quanto and building a new identity by adding a distinctive bonnet with a scoop. Exteriors of the facelifted car includes redesigned headlamps, griller as well as the bumper.
Mr Praveen Shah who is Mahindra’s CEO and President of automotive division said in a statement that the updated Quanto is expected to be rolled out by this year.
Other than the refreshed exteriors of Mahindra Quanto, the car would get alloy wheels as well ( for the top-end models). A new beige-themed dashboard and steering wheel are the other additions to the new Quanto. Mahindra Quanto Facelift is going to have the existing 1.5 litre 3-cylinder diesel engine which can churn out a maximum power of 98.6bhp and a maximum torque of 24.4kgm. The engine of Mahindra Quanto is going to be mated with 5-speed manual gearbox.
Indian automaker, Mahindra would also be working towards launching 2 new compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUVs) such as the Mahindra S101,which is an internal code name for the car.
