India’s most desirable luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today launched two of its exclusive and highly desirable Top-End Vehicles, the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC SUV and the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE Edition 1 sedan; epitomizing the pinnacle of luxury with exceptional driving performance. The Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC SUV exudes sophistication with its unrivalled elegance, comfort and striking design, strengthening the appeal for Mercedes-Benz’s SUV portfolio. The AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE Edition 1 with its AMG performance hybrid technology, sets unique standards in the luxury performance saloon segment, emerging from the fusion of motorsport-inspired drive technology and outstanding luxury and comfort of a S-Class.
The new Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC SUV represents ‘ultimate luxury’ in the SUV segment. It is a trailblazer in defining style and ultimate status, combining the body design and technical basis of the GLS SUV with the luxury of a top-class sedan in every aspect, creating an unmatched opulent experience.
More than half a century ago, the founders demonstrated their knack for infusing a luxury sedan with a sporty essence, driven by innovation. Today, the new Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE with AMG performance hybrid technology once again sets the benchmark in the segment. It is the performance luxury at highest level. This plug-in hybrid saloon stands as the undisputed top model, now more desirable than ever. With a handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine paired with an electric motor, it generates a staggering system output of 590 kW (802 hp) and a maximum system torque of 1,430 Nm. The electric drive’s spontaneous response at the rear axle and rapid torque build-up creates a unique driving experience.
Impressive performance meets exclusive features: Exclusive AMG ‘Edition 1’ launched in limited numbers
The fully equipped AMG Edition 1 will be available in limited numbers following its India market debut. Exclusive elements such as the MANUFAKTUR alpine grey paintwork, 21-inch AMG forged wheels in cross-spoke design and seat covers padded with exclusive AMG nappa leather with contrasting red topstitching, are available only with this special ‘Edition 1’ model.
Further accentuating the dynamic presence of the AMG Edition 1 is the AMG Exterior Night Package. The front and side skirt trim, mirror caps, waistline trim strip and the window weatherstrips are available in dark chrome or high-gloss black. This is complemented by ornamental trim on the rear apron, black-chromed AMG twin tailpipes and heat-insulating dark tinted glass. Rounding off the features and accessories are the red-finished brake callipers and the silver-chrome fuel filler cap with AMG logo.
Carefully selected and meticulously curated materials infuse the AMG Edition 1 a sense of exquisite craftsmanship. The AMG Exclusive package with AMG seats in black nappa leather with red seams and the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/ MICROCUT microfibre with red topstitching, combines sportiness with touring comfort. The black/red colour scheme is seamlessly continued through AMG embellished elements in black visible carbon with red accent stitching. The AMG door sill panels with replaceable covers and illuminated red AMG logo and AMG floor mats with contrasting red stitching accentuate the special status of the vehicle. The final touch is the exclusive Edition 1 logo engraved in the central console.
To protect the valuable vehicle, each customer receives a tailor-made AMG indoor car cover with a custom “Edition 1” pattern. With its breathable outer skin made of tear-resistant synthetic fabric and an anti-static inner lining of woven flannel, this protects the vehicle from dust and scratches in the garage.

- Expressive exterior design
For the first time, an S-Class Saloon bears the AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical louvres and a large central star. In the profile, the up to 21-inch AMG forged wheels and the AMG-specific side sill panels particularly stand out. At the rear, there are characteristic design features of the “63” models such as the trapezoidal, fluted twin-tailpipes and the wide diffuser with longitudinal fins and diffuser board.
- Elegant interior with First-Class rear compartment
The interior combines the high-quality appointments of the S-Class with AMG-specific features. The seats, with a special AMG-exclusive dynamic diamond stitching, underline the refined appearance. Exclusive colors and various Nappa leather upholsteries with an embossed AMG emblem in the front headrests emphasize the sporty and luxurious aspects of the S 63 E PERFORMANCE. Its position as a leader in the segment is also made clear by the First-Class rear cabin and multi-contour seats for four occupants. This is further emphasized by AMG-specific trim elements and the standard AMG Performance steering wheel with AMG DRIVE UNIT steering wheel buttons.
- MBUX multimedia system with hybrid-specific displays
The MBUX infotainment system features various AMG- and hybrid-specific displays and functions. These include the displays in the instrument cluster, multimedia central display in portrait orientation in the center console and the optional head-up display.
The instrument cluster view can be personalized with different display styles and individually selectable main views. The head-up display also offers AMG’s display styles such as “Race” and “Supersport.” The AMG-specific “Supersport” style offers the option of displaying various content via a vertical menu structure.

The high-performance battery in the S 63 E PERFORMANCE has a capacity of 13.1 kWh. The battery is designed for fast power delivery and draw. The WLTP electric range is 33 kms.

The seven AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, “Electric,” “Comfort,” “Battery Hold,” “Sport,” “Sport+,” “Slippery” and “Individual,” are precisely tailored to the new drive technology, offering a wide range of driving experiences – from efficient to dynamic. The driving modes adjust important parameters including the response of the drive and transmission, steering characteristics, chassis damping and sound.
- Short shift times, high efficiency: the AMG SPEEDSHIFT® MCT 9G transmission
AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission with RACE START function, which ensures optimal acceleration from a standstill. In manual mode “M”, the transmission responds immediately and precisely to manual gearshift commands from the driver and implements the commands with lightning speed.
- AMG Performance 4MATIC+ variable all-wheel drive
AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive combines the advantages of different drive concepts. The variable torque distribution to the front and rear axles ensures optimum traction at the physical limit.
- AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension with adaptive damping as standard
The AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension is based on air suspension with automatic level control, combined with adaptive adjustable damping. The air suspension struts adapt to the driving situation, allowing a softer or firmer setup. Another feature is the level control system, which automatically lowers the S-Class by 10 mm at above 120 km/h.
- Three-stage AMG parameter steering and standard rear-axle steering.
The steering layout also contributes to the increase in dynamics and comfort. The three-stage AMG parameter steering system features a variable steering geometry ratio that adapts to the selected driving mode. The standard rear-axle steering operates with a maximum steering angle of 3.0 degrees.
