MG Windsor Creates History with Record-Breaking Leh to Kanyakumari Drive
JSW MG Motor India has announced a significant milestone in the electric vehicle (EV) sector with its intelligent CUV, the MG Windsor, successfully completing the arduous journey from Leh to Kanyakumari in record time. The vehicle covered a total distance of 3,757 kilometers in just 83 hours and 43 minutes, setting a new benchmark for electric vehicles in India.
This feat has been officially recognized by both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records as the fastest time for an EV to cover this diverse and challenging route.

Conquering Diverse Terrains
The expedition was undertaken by Mountain Goat, a collective of passionate motorsports professionals. The journey tested the MG Windsor across a wide spectrum of Indian landscapes, starting from the high-altitude, rugged, and arid terrain of Ladakh and descending to the tropical coast of the southern peninsula.
The successful completion of this drive demonstrates the reliability, impressive range, and consistent performance of the MG Windsor under extreme weather and road conditions.
Showcasing India’s Charging Infrastructure
A key highlight of this record-breaking drive was the efficiency of the charging strategy. The MG Windsor required only 20 charging stops to cover the entire 3,757 km distance. This performance serves to debunk common myths regarding long-distance travel in electric vehicles and highlights the maturity of India’s fast-charging network.
The team utilized the e-Hub by MG app to identify and access charging points throughout the journey. This application serves as a unified platform for EV owners, connecting users to over 13,000 charging points across the country through partnerships with 36 leading charge-point operators.
Commitment to EV Adoption
Speaking on this achievement, Vinay Raina, Chief Commercial Officer at JSW MG Motor India, stated that the record-breaking drive reinforces the “EV Sahi Hai” (EV is Right) campaign. He emphasized that the journey proves electric vehicles are not just for city commuting but are fully capable of handling long-distance cross-country travel with ease.
