On February 6, 2023, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Alternative Fuels Based Vehicles Rally in Bengaluru. The rally was part of the India Energy Week (IEW), which was organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) to mark the beginning of India’s G20 Presidency.

Christian Cahn von Seelen, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Digital at ŠKODA AUTO Volkswagen India, added that the company is happy to partner with the Indian Government in its Net Zero mission. He also expressed excitement that the ŠKODA KUSHAQ and Volkswagen TAIGUN were part of the landmark rally and looked forward to shaping a greener future for the country.
Volkswagen Group’s ‘goTOzero’ Environmental Mission
Volkswagen Group’s environmental mission, ‘goTOzero’, aims to make the company carbon-neutral by 2050. This is a strategic initiative towards sustainable mobility and a cornerstone of the Group’s manufacturing processes. The Group’s Aurangabad facility transitioned to 100% green energy in November 2022, ahead of its 2025 target. The Pune facility also has one of the largest rooftop solar power plants, which provides close to 30% of the facility’s annual energy needs.
