Renault Kwid gets Jacked up – Renault to Build a sub-4 meter Micro-SUV
Renault is planing to build a sub-4 meter micro SUV based on the Kwid platform. India is expected to be a major market for this new vehicle. This micro SUV will use an extended CMF-A+ platform, and is likely to be made in and for the Indian market. Here is a speculative render that shows that the Kwid SUV could look like.
The Kwid-based HBC(It’s code-name) will be a micro SUV, taking on the likes of the Mahindra KUV100 and other such upcoming vehicles from Maruti , Hyundai and Tata. Other details regarding engines and transmissions are yet to be revealed. the Kwid HBC micro SUV is likely to be a petrol SUV , with provisions for an electric option in future, it will be great if Renault will engineer a diesel for this micro SUV .However it will share parts with the Kwid, which is quite localized already.

This is not the only new sub-4 meter car Renault is developing for India. The automaker is putting together a Kwid-based stationwagon that can seat seven adults. Similar to the Datsun Go+, which is a extended version of the Go hatchback.

RBC is the code name for this stationwagon and testing is about to begin. The RBC is expected to launched in early 2019, earlier than the Kwid based micro SUV, which will hit the Indian market only in 2020. In terms of pricing it is likely to be positioned at a starting price of Rs. 5 lakhs.
