Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Achieves 2 Million Production Milestone
Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced a significant landmark in its 25-year journey in the Indian automotive market. The company has successfully crossed the 2 million production milestone, a testament to its enduring commitment and the robust demand for its vehicles both domestically and globally.
This achievement comes on the heels of the Group’s strongest commercial momentum to date. October 2025 was recorded as the most successful month since the Group’s formation, highlighting India’s strategic importance within the global network.

The Power of the MQB-A0-IN Platform
A major contributor to this success is the localized MQB-A0-IN platform. Over 500,000 vehicles built on this platform—including popular models like the Škoda Kushaq, Slavia, Kylaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Virtus—have rolled off the production lines. These models were designed and developed in India by local engineering teams specifically for the Indian market but have since been benchmarked globally.
The demand for these locally developed models is evident in the production speed; the last 500,000 units were produced in just 3.5 years.
A Global Export Hub
The milestone also underscores India’s growing role as a key export hub for the Volkswagen Group. More than 700,000 vehicles have been exported from India to various markets across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. This aligns with the company’s vision of “Made in India, Driven by the World.”
Strong Commercial Performance
Both Škoda Auto and Volkswagen brands have posted strong numbers. Škoda Auto India saw its highest-ever 10-month performance, more than doubling year-on-year to reach 61,607 units in 2025. Volkswagen India celebrated its highest-ever monthly sales for the Virtus during Diwali, which now commands over 40% market share in the premium sedan segment.
The Group’s luxury portfolio also contributed to the success. Audi saw its RS Q8 win Performance Car of the Year, while Lamborghini delivered its best-ever annual performance in 2024.
Leadership Speak
Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director of SAVWIPL, stated, “Every milestone we achieve in India reflects our strong belief in the country’s potential — not just as a market but as a driving force in the future of mobility. The 2-million mark is the outcome of consistent investment in people, technology and local capability.”
