Suzuki Motorcycle India Records 36.6% Growth Y-O-Y in May 2018
Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), a subsidiary of one of the world’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan; has recorded it’s highest-ever monthly sales for the second-month running. Clocking 53,167 units in the domestic market during May 2018, Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded a year-on-year increase of 36.59%, having achieved 38,923 units during the corresponding period during FY 2017-18.
Mr. Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said,
Continuing the positive growth momentum and recording highest-ever sale numbers for consecutive months is a reflection of customer’s trust in our two-wheelers. Pursuing an aggressive target of 7 lacs units for the FY 2018-19, we are buoyed by this encouraging start, having surpassed the 1 lac mark within the first 2-months itself. We are keen to continue this vigour in the coming months as well. With exciting product updates in terms of technology and performance, like the Gixxer ABS, we are committed to constantly improve on the value-proposition we offer to our customers as well.
Overall, Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded 58,682 unit sales (Domestic + Exports); as compared to 44,123 units in the month of May last year for a year-on-year growth of 33%. The cumulative sale for the current financial year (April – May 2018) stands at 1,17,259 units (Domestic + Exports), a growth of 33.4%.
The new Gixxer rolled out with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) feature is available at a starting price of INR 87,250 (ex-showroom Delhi). Suzuki Motorcycle India commenced dispatches for ABS variant in May.
