Tork Motors, India’s first electric motorcycle startup, has extended their support to the government’s decision to go all electric by committing to localize all components of the electric drive train for 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers by 2023. There is heightened public awareness on the deteriorating air quality causing health issues, excitement to welcome 2 and 3 wheeler electric vehicles and need to switch to alternatives of petrol and diesel. With this announcement, Tork Motors is committed to gradually localize all the components required in the electric drive from battery to charger, controller and motor thereby making key components not only locally available for manufacturing but also for after-market requirements.
Kapil Shelke, CEO & Founder, Tork Motors, said,
We are excited to create a conducive ecosystem for EV’s in India. With the positive outlook for EVs in the recently concluded budget, we are happy to support the government at all stages and in all ways possible to make EVs mainstream by 2023.
Tork Motors along with their partner Bharat Forge have the wherewithal and capability to manufacture and supply electric drive train components to 3-wheeler and 2-wheeler OEM’s in addition to their own electric motorcycle. They are working towards creating fast charging stations in key cities and associate with private and government organisations to create convenient charging facilities to create the ecosystem in a phased manner. They will jointly invest in manpower, infrastructure and technology to provide the best in class components to the customers.
