Upcoming Hyundai Tucson to come with 50% localisation in India
Hyundai will be launching the new Tucson SUV this year(2016) in the month of September. The South Korean automaker, Hyundai has tried to achieve 50 percent localisation, in order to bring down the initial price of Tucson around Rs 17 Lakhs to 22 lakhs, (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
With the help of 50% localisation, Hyundai Tucson is going to be in a perfect spot in the Hyundai stable (between Creta and Santa Fe) giving a good competition to Mahindra XUV500, Ssangyong Rexton, base variants of the Toyota’s Fortuner and Ford’s Endeavour, as well as the petrol-only Honda CR-V.
The upcoming Hyundai Tucson will be powered by a 1,995cc CRDi engine which delivers power outputs of 136 PS and 184 PS. Hyundai Tucson will be made available in both 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmission gearboxes. The engine capacity of Hyundai Tucson will be less than 2,000cc, complying to Indian emission regulations (NCR and Kerala).
Talking about the dimensions, the new Hyundai Tucson measures 4475mm in length, 1850mm in width, 1645mm in height and 2670mm offering an ample boot space of 513 litres.
We will have to wait and watch if Hyundai can succeed in selling Tucson in Indian market in large number just like it did for Creta.
