Volvo XC40: Volvo’s Baby SUV all set to take Indian roads
Swedish automaker Volvo will soon bring a compact SUV for India. The XC40, it’ll be the smallest luxury SUV that Volvo offers in India . The compact luxury SUV is expected to launch by mid of 2018 . The XC40 is based on Volvo’s Common Modular Architecture (CMA), which will underpin all future compact cars from Volvo.
Volvo XC40 Exterior
The SUV gets an upright grille that looks like its elder brother XC60. The five-seater SUV gets Thor-Hammer LED headlamps and the L-shaped LED tail lamps. The SUV will be offered with dual-tone colours options and will sit on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Volvo XC40 Interior
The Volvo XC40 comes with a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and premium leather upholstery. It will feature equipment like heated front and rear seats ,12-speaker Harman Kardon ICE unit ,active bending lights, wireless mobile phone charging ,powered tailgate and panoramic sunroof . Volvo is bringing in a single mid-spec R-Design variant for india .
Volvo XC40 Engine
Volvo XC40 comes with a single powertrain option – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbo-diesel motor which puts out 190hp and 400Nm of peak torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission which which sends grunt to all-four-wheels through a permanent AWD system. Depending on the market demand of the model, Volvo may also bring in a petrol engine option later.
Volvo XC40 Safety kits
In terms of safety , the XC40 comes with radar-based active safety features like adaptive cruise control, oncoming lane mitigation, run-off-road mitigation and blind spot information. Additionally, the SUV will come with eight airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, hill ascent and descent control, parking assist and more. The XC40 is expected to be the best-in-class in terms of safety (Typical Swedish).
Volvo XC40 Price
The price of the XC40 is likely to start from Rs. 30 lakhs. The new volvo will go against the likes of Mini Countryman (Rs 34.90-41.40 lakh), Mercedes-Benz GLA (Rs 31.72-38.03 lakh), BMW X1 (Rs 34.50-44.50 lakh) and Audi Q3 (Rs 34.73-42.88 lakh).
