Maruti Suzuki, The Indo- Japanese collaboration started production in December 1983 at the Gurugram plant. It took them 34 years and 6 months to cross the two crore production mark and has achieved yet another milestone in India, producing 20 million (two crores) vehicles in the country.
In March of 1994, the carmaker achieved the first ten lakh production mark, It took the carmaker nearly a decade to achieve the first ten lakh production mark. The fifty lakh milestone was achieved in the next nine years in the month of April in 2005. Just six years later, the one crore production mark was hit in the March of 2011. After which, the 1.5 crore units were produced in May 2015. Now, the jump to two crore production milestone took just 38 months.

Maruti Suzuki is the biggest carmaker in India accounting for more than 50 percent of the market share. Of the 20 million units produced in the country, 14.37 million vehicles are manufactured in Gurugram, while 5.62 million vehicles are rolled out from the Manesar facility.
