Mahindra XUV100 launch in January 2016
India’s largest car manufacturer, Mahindra is set to launch its upcoming micro-SUV XUV100 (codenamed S101) during January 2016. According to earlier plans, Mahindra’s XUV100 was expected to be launched in December 2015, but now, the dates have been pushed to January 2016.
The reason for postponing the launch date is because of Mahindra’s popular TUV300 that is getting a good amount of bookings and now the company is busy in fulfilling these bookings.
Mahindra XUV100 and the company’s recent hit TUV300 are planned to be manufactured within the Chakan facility. For now, all the resources of Chakan facility is used for the production of TUV300. That is why, Mahindra wants to increase its market share with new compact SUV. The upcoming XUV100 from Mahindra is based on a monocoque platform with inputs from the Ssangyong team. The new XUV100 micro SUV shall be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol as well as diesel engine options. The car is going to be launched with both five-speed manual as well as the AMT options.
According to the reports from MotorOctane, the new Mahindra XUV100 will be launched at a price tag of INR 6 to 9.5 lakhs. The all new XUV100 is going to be a five-seater with features like daytime running LEDs, in-dash music system with bluetooth, steering controls for audio and calling, dual airbags and ABS (Anti-lock braking System). Mahindra XUV100 is designed to target the urban car buyers and is going to be a five-seater crossover.
Mahindra XUV100 is going to be a part of Mahindra XUV500 family and Mahindra wants to capture the Hyundai i20 Active segment with this. Currently, only the Hyundai i20 Active is doing well in this segment. The other brands like the Fiat Avventura have not performed outstandingly in this segment.
