The 6th edition of the Mahindra Adventure Monsoon Challenge 2016 concluded successfully in Goa with more than 30 vehicles from the Mahindra stable maneuvering the challenging route of over 650 km in 2 days from Mangaluru to Goa.
The Monsoon Challenge 2016, one of India’s biggest TSD (time, speed, distance) rallies, was flagged off from Hotel Moti Mahal, Mangaluru on 24th June 2016. The rally then made its way to Shimoga and end in Goa on 26th June. The route had highways, B roads and rough road stretches with the magnificent Western Ghats as the omnipresent backdrop. Under this challenge, participants competed under the following categories – Open Category, Challenge Category, Corporate Category, Couple Category & Media Category.
In the Open Class Category, V Santhosh Kumar and T Nagarajan bagged the first place. Close on their heels were the duo Wilson Padayattil and Sreejith PA who emerged winners in the Challenge Category. Vinay Kumar BP and Ravi Kumar BM were the winners in the Corporate Category. In the Couple Category, Dr N Raaj Mohan and Chithra Venkatessalu were declared winners. Further, there was a special category for the participants in the media category which was bagged by Balamurugan and T. Vijay from Motorvikatan, Chennai.
Held under the Mahindra Adventure umbrella, the Mahindra Adventure Monsoon Challenge is a part of the Challenges series of motorsport events that were launched five years ago. A unique concept, as the name suggests, TSD rallies are not only about speed but also about calculated precision of time and distance. The driver and the navigator are expected to keep a track of time in tandem with the distance covered.
The Monsoon Challenge sports the tag of being one of India’s richest TSD motorsport events. The event has also been duly approved by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and is held especially for Mahindra vehicle owners. The rally provides a perfect opportunity for Mahindra owners to compete while enjoying the monsoon vistas.
