Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, River, has successfully initiated deliveries of its debut product, Indie, in Bengaluru. Aravind Mani, the CEO and Co-Founder, along with Vipin George, the Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder, were present at River Headquarters to officially hand over the keys to the first group of pre-order customers. Indie was launched earlier this year in February, followed by the rollout of the first Indie at River’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hoskote in August.

Following the latest modifications in the FAME II Subsidy, the price of the Indie has been revised and will be announced shortly. However, staying true to its commitment, River has stuck to the initially promised ex-showroom price of INR 1,25,000 for its pre-order customers in Bengaluru. Furthermore, River is actively working on its inaugural experience center in Bengaluru, slated for a November 2023 launch.
River is the only homegrown EV company to base both production and headquarters in Karnataka. Since its inception in March 2021, River has raised a total of $28 million in funds from marquee investors including Dubai-based Al Futtaim group, Chris Sacca’s Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC. Notably, River is the sole Indian investment for Al Futtaim group, Toyota Ventures, Trucks VC, and Maniv Mobility.
