Mercedes-Benz EQS Review

The EQS SUV has a massive 122kWh battery pack which promises a huge range of 809km while there are dual motors as standard with 544bhp and 858Nm. The EQS has no noise and it quietly drives with excellent NVH.

Mercedes-Benz has promised to launch many EVs this year and it stayed true with back-to-back launches of the EQA and the EQS Maybach while now it has added the standard EQS to the range too while the electric G Wagon is also launching soon. Back to the EQS SUV and as the name says it is the SUV version of the EQS sedan which means it has more ground clearance for India which makes sense. The EQS is also assembled in India and comes with a 10-year warranty for its battery too which means Mercedes is keen to get volumes here.

Also, the EQS is just Rs 2 lakh more than the EQE which means that it is also cheaper than the GLS SUV. The EQS is not based on the GLS though but in terms of luxury can be the electric equivalent. Like the EQS sedan, the EQS SUV is different from the GLS and that is also seen with the looks. Despite 5.1m long, the EQS does not look so with a swoopy aerodynamic profile and looks. Add in the AMG package and 21-inch wheels, the EQS does look sporty. The front has the black panel with the pattern seen on other EVs from Mercedes plus digital lights. The rear also has a connected light bat while unlike the GLS, the roof flows down. It is big but looks futuristic. Inside, the EQS has a wow futuristic look with an all-white cabin and the triple hyper screen.

Here there is a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch screen for the passenger and a 12.3-inch display for the driver. The main touchscreen is huge and the quality in terms of the touch response to the screen is fantastic. Then you have 3D navigation, superb all-around cameras too which offer a nice view thanks to the huge screen plus major controls like the icons are the bottom of the screen. There is also a nice heads-up display, voice assistant and plenty more. There is more customisation too in terms of the owner profiles and connected car tech.

You can also get a nice massage while the 15-speaker Burmester audio system will keep you happy too. Alongside the usual features which you expect including a full panoramic sunroof, 9 airbags and more, the EQS also gets rear seat entertainment and noise cancelation headphones which work very well. The rear seats themselves are very comfortable while offering more support than the EQS sedan. There are pillows, rear seat recline and sunblind’s too. What is new is the addition of the 3rd row seats which are accessed via the electric folding second row. Here, the 3rd row is comfortable.

The EQS SUV has a massive 122kWh battery pack which promises a huge range of 809km while there are dual motors as standard with 544bhp and 858Nm. The EQS has no noise and it quietly drives with excellent NVH. The steering is light and despite its size, it is comfortable to drive while the rear axle steering further helps in tricky situations. Power is enough and it is very quick where you are surprised at how this huge SUV travels so quick. The ground clearance is also more than enough for our roads which is handy while it handles our roads too.

Mercedes-Benz EQS Ambient Lighting

Yes, it is softly sprung, the EQS still has a comfortable backseat experience for its owners even though there is body roll. Expect the EQS to have a range of 600km wh9ch is plenty and Mercedes gas also made sure thar the maintenance is less too. At this price (Rs 1.82 Crores to Rs 2.81 Crores), which is less than the GLS, owners would think towards this for its ease of use and the silence plus the performance. Yes, it does not have the presence of a GLS but the EQS will get many to switch to EVs in this segment.
