Mahindra Celebrates 20 Years in Australia with the Launch of the New OJA Tractor Range

In a major milestone coinciding with its 20th anniversary in Australia, Mahindra & Mahindra, the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, has launched its next-generation range of OJA tractors. The new OJA tractors, a future-ready range built on Mahindra’s ambitious global lightweight platform, are thoughtfully engineered to meet the unique needs of Australian farmers and property owners. The launch includes three new models from the OJA 1100 and 2100 series—the OJA 1123 HST, OJA 1126 HST, and the powerful OJA 2126 HST—in the sub-compact and compact categories.

The OJA platform, derived from the Sanskrit word “Ojas” meaning “Powerhouse of Energy,” represents a transformative shift in lightweight 4WD tractor design. Developed through a collaborative effort between the engineering teams at Mahindra Research Valley, India, and Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery, Japan, the OJA range is poised to set new standards for power, comfort, and smart farming in the country.

Mr. Veejay Nakra, President of the Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., highlighted the significance of the launch, saying, “As we celebrate 20 years of the Mahindra brand in Australia, we are proud to introduce the globally acclaimed Mahindra OJA tractor range to this important market”. He emphasized that the range reflects “Mahindra’s commitment to innovation, durability, and customer-centric design”.

Mr. Ravindra S Shahane, Head of Global Product Planning & International Operations for Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., added that with their “pioneering, first-in-segment technologies that are smart and thoughtfully engineered,” the OJA range offers a “powerful multitasking solution, designed to elevate versatility, operator comfort, and ease of use, essential for lifestyle and small property owners”.

Built Tough for Australian Conditions: Unmatched Comfort and Technology

The Mahindra OJA range is tough and purpose-built with a robust construction specifically for Australian conditions, ensuring longevity and reliability. The tractors are based on an ergonomic platform and are equipped with advanced technologies and powerful engine technology.

Key features and first-in-segment innovations of the OJA range include:

  • Button-operated PTO and loader: These features, a first in the segment, provide a class-leading lift capacity and simplify operations for farmers.
  • Digital driver display panel: A modern digital display panel provides the operator with all the necessary information at a glance.
  • Advanced hydraulics and power steering: These features ensure smooth and precise control.
  • Projector-style headlights: These headlights ensure clear visibility for tasks in the early morning or late at night.
  • mComfort seat with foldable armrests: This ergonomic seat provides unmatched operator comfort, especially during long working hours.

The OJA range is manufactured at Mahindra’s state-of-the-art facility in South India, with models from the series also being rolled out for markets like the U.S., Canada, Thailand, and India.

A Detailed Look at the Mahindra OJA Series

The new OJA range is introduced in two categories, each tailored for different farming and property maintenance needs.

Mahindra OJA 1100 Sub-Compact Series

The OJA 1100 series includes two models: the

OJA 1123 HST and the OJA 1126 HST. These sub-compact tractors are characterized by their stylish design and user-friendly hydrostatic transmission. They are ideal for lifestyle property owners who need a compact yet capable solution.

  • OJA 1123 HST: Powered by a 3-cylinder diesel engine, this model produces 23 hp of power at 3,000 RPM. It has a loader lift capacity of 420 kg and a rear hitch lift capacity of 350 kg.
  • OJA 1126 HST: This model also features a 3-cylinder diesel engine but produces 26 hp of power at 3,000 RPM. It comes with a hydrostatic transmission, cruise control, and an optional heater-only cab.

Both models in this series are equipped with intuitive controls and tilt and telescopic steering for enhanced comfort. They also offer an optional mid-mount mower for versatile property maintenance and come with turf and industrial tyre options for varied terrain. A standard button-operated rear PTO of 540 RPM is included on both.

Mahindra OJA 2100 Compact Series

From the OJA 2100 compact series, Mahindra is launching the

OJA 2126 HST. Built on a larger platform, this tractor is engineered for more demanding tasks and is a reliable all-weather solution.

  • OJA 2126 HST: This model is powered by a 3-cylinder diesel engine that produces 26 hp of power at 2,500 RPM. It boasts a best-in-class loader lift capacity of 580 kg and a rear hitch lift capacity of 800 kg.

The OJA 2126 HST also comes with a 3-range HST transmission, tilt steering for enhanced comfort, and a wide, flat operator platform for easy movement. An optional fully integrated HVAC (heater + air-conditioner) cab is available, making it a reliable all-weather tractor. It is also equipped with a standard button-operated rear PTO of 540 RPM.
