Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today announced a voluntary market recall campaign for its CB1000 Hornet SP motorcycle. This proactive action aligns with a global market action concerning certain units manufactured in 2025.

The Issue and The Fix

The recall addresses a specific technical concern that could affect the motorcycle’s functionality:

  • The Cause: Excessive radiant heat from the exhaust system may soften the painted seating surface.
  • The Effect: This softening could lead to the change pedal pivot bolt loosening and falling off while riding.
  • The Impact: If the bolt loosens, it can affect gear shifting.

As a precautionary measure, the replacement of the affected parts will be carried out at BigWing Topline dealerships across India starting from January 2026 onwards. The replacement will be performed free of cost, regardless of the vehicle’s warranty status.

Customer Notification and Booking

This voluntary move is intrinsic to Honda’s pro-activeness, reinforcing its commitment to strengthen customer trust and enhance the ownership experience.

  • Notification: The company will proactively notify affected customers via call, email, or SMS for inspection of their vehicle, starting today.
  • Vehicle Check: Customers can also verify if their vehicle is included in the campaign by submitting their unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Honda’s website (honda2wheelersindia.com).
  • Service: Customers are requested to book their service appointment in advance to avoid any inconvenience or waiting at the dealership.
