Ather Rizta Hits 2 Lakh Sales Milestone: Driving Ather Energy’s National Expansion
Ather Energy has announced a significant achievement for its “family-first” electric scooter, the Ather Rizta. The model has crossed the 2 lakh sales mark as of December 2025, cementing its position as a dominant player in the Indian electric two-wheeler market.
This milestone highlights the rapid adoption of the Rizta, coming just six months after the scooter crossed the 1 lakh sales mark in May 2025. Since its launch in April 2024, the Rizta has been pivotal in transforming Ather from a performance-focused niche brand into a mass-market leader.

Rizta: The Powerhouse Behind Ather’s Growth
The success of the Rizta is reflected in its overwhelming contribution to the company’s overall performance. According to Ather Energy, the Rizta now accounts for over 70% of Ather’s total sales.
This product mix shift is supported by recent retail data. According to FADA (Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations) data for November 2025, Ather Energy retailed 20,349 units, registering a robust 56.98% Year-on-Year (YoY) growth compared to November 2024. This strong YoY performance underscores the Rizta’s role in driving volume even amidst broader market fluctuations.

Expanding Beyond Southern Strongholds
Historically known for its strong presence in South India, Ather has successfully leveraged the Rizta to penetrate “Middle India” and Northern markets. The scooter’s family-friendly design has unlocked demand in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
Market Share Growth (Q1 FY26 vs. Q3 FY26):
- Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh: Market share doubled from 7% to 14%.
- Punjab: Grown from 8% to 15%.
- Uttar Pradesh: Increased from 4% to 10%.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, CBO of Ather Energy, noted that the Rizta has expanded the brand’s addressable market and enabled aggressive distribution expansion in these new territories.
Features Driving the Demand
The Ather Rizta was designed specifically to address the needs of Indian families, moving away from the sporty aggression of the 450 series. Key factors contributing to its success include:
- Practical Design: It features a large, comfortable seat and a massive 56L storage capacity (34L under-seat + optional 22L frunk).
- Safety First: The scooter includes advanced safety features like SkidControl™, Fall Safe™, and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).
- Range Options: Available in ‘S’ and ‘Z’ variants, offering IDC ranges of 123 km and 159 km respectively.
- New Updates: The introduction of the Terracotta Red color and a 3.7 kWh battery option for the Rizta S has further fueled sales momentum. Additionally, a major touchscreen upgrade for the Rizta Z was recently announced.
Strengthening the Network
To support this sales volume, Ather has rapidly scaled its physical footprint. As of September 30, 2025, the company had established 524 Experience Centres (ECs) across India. The brand also operates the country’s widest two-wheeler fast-charging network, Ather Grid, with over 4,300 chargers installed globally.
