Mahindra BE.07 Electric SUV Spied: Why the Toned-Down Concept is the Next Big Volume Driver
A heavily camouflaged test mule of the Mahindra BE.07 electric SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads, signaling the imminent arrival of the brand’s fourth born-electric model after the XEV 9e, XEV 9S, and BE 6. While the production version is slated for a 2027 launch, the spy shots reveal critical design shifts from the initial concept that point toward a highly practical, mass-market approach. Thanks to Autocar India for the spy shots of upcoming Mahindra BE.07 electric SUV.

During a recent quarterly earnings call, Rajesh Jejurikar, the executive director and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra, revealed a unique insight into the company’s expectations for this vehicle, stating,
“We believe the BE.07 will be a very big volume driver on top of what we are doing with our current three products”.
Here is what the latest spy images reveal about this crucial upcoming EV.
Concept vs. Reality: Pragmatic Design Changes
The BE.07 prototype retains the core silhouette of the concept, including a glasshouse with sharply raked front and rear windscreens and a thick C-pillar. However, Mahindra has notably toned down some of the edgier details for the production model.
Key exterior observations include:
- Traditional Mirrors: The high-tech cameras seen on the concept have been replaced by traditional wing mirrors on the test mule.
- Lighting and Bumper: While the front bumper maintains a stepped design, the lighting elements show slight differences from the original concept.
- Aerodynamics and Access: The prototype features air inlets for cooling on the front bumper, large aero-optimised wheels, flush door handles, and a side step.
Platform, Powertrain, and Dimensions
The BE.07 will share the INGLO born-electric platform with Mahindra’s existing XEV and BE electric vehicles. Despite appearing significantly larger than the BE 6 at approximately 4.6 metres in length, it will feature a traditional SUV body style and a 5-seater layout.
- Dimensions: The original concept measured 4,565mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,660mm in height.
- Wheelbase: It shares the exact same 2,775mm wheelbase as the BE 6 and XEV 9e.
- Battery Capabilities: The BE.07 is expected to carry over existing battery options, ranging between 59kWh and 79kWh.
Interior Layout and Market Rivals
Though the spy shots did not capture the interior, the cabin is expected to carry over the dashboard-spanning triple-screen layout previously seen on the XEV 9S and XEV 9e, which was also previewed in the BE.07 concept.
When the production model officially launches in 2027, it will likely bear a different name and be positioned to directly rival models like the Tata Harrier EV and the Vinfast VF7.
