Lexus India Recalls 117 Units of LX SUV Over Transmission Issue

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd has officially announced a voluntary recall affecting select units of its flagship luxury SUV, the Lexus LX. Initiated on February 18, 2026, the recall addresses a potential mechanical defect within the transmission system that could impact the vehicle’s drivability and safety at higher speeds.

Affected Lexus Vehicles

The recall specifically targets a limited batch of the Lexus LX model currently operating in the market.

  • Model Name: Lexus LX
  • Variant: FLA310
  • Total Affected Units: 117
  • Manufacturing Period: March 6, 2025, to September 29, 2025

Reason for the Recall

The core issue involves the vehicle’s 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission system utilizes linear solenoids to manage and control gear shifting. According to the official description of the defect, a failure of these solenoids under certain driving conditions can trigger a communication breakdown.

Specifically, the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) and the Engine ECU may fail to communicate the solenoid failure. This malfunction causes the transmission to over-rev in specific gears. Consequently, this defect can lead to:

  • Internal damage to the transmission.
  • A sudden loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds, increasing the risk of an accident.
  • Potential transmission fluid leaks if the structural integrity of the transmission housing is compromised due to internal damage.

Next Action Plan for Owners

If you own a Lexus LX manufactured within the specified dates, it is highly recommended to take the following steps to ensure vehicle safety and compliance:

  1. Wait for Official Communication: Dealerships will proactively reach out to owners of the affected vehicles via registered email, SMS, or postal mail.
  2. Verify Your VIN: You can independently verify if your vehicle falls under this recall by checking your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the official Lexus India website under the recall section.
  3. Schedule an Appointment: Contact your nearest authorized Lexus dealership or service center to schedule an appointment.
  4. Inspection and Repair: The authorized technicians will inspect the transmission system and perform the necessary software updates or part replacements. As per standard automotive recall protocols, this repair will be carried out at no cost to the customer.

Toyota Recalls Land Cruiser FJA300

In conjunction with the Lexus LX recall, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd has also issued a voluntary recall for its highly popular Toyota Land Cruiser model sharing the identical 10-speed automatic transmission architecture.

  • Affected Model: Toyota Land Cruiser
  • Variant: FJA300
  • Total Affected Units: 969
  • Manufacturing Period: September 4, 2024, to September 30, 2025

The reason for the Land Cruiser recall is identical to the Lexus LX: a potential failure in the transmission’s linear solenoids causing a lack of communication between the ECU and TCU, which may lead to over-revving, loss of motive power, and possible fluid leakage. Owners of the affected Land Cruiser FJA300 units should follow the same next action plan by contacting their authorized Toyota dealership for a free inspection and resolution.

Combined, this joint recall impacts a grand total of 1,086 premium utility vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1. What is the main defect causing the Lexus LX and Toyota Land Cruiser recall?

The recall is due to a potential failure of the linear solenoids within the 10-speed automatic transmission. This failure prevents the Engine ECU and Transmission Control Unit from communicating properly, leading to transmission over-revving, potential internal damage, and a loss of motive power at high speeds.

Q2. Are all Lexus LX and Toyota Land Cruiser models affected?

No. The recall only affects 117 units of the Lexus LX (FLA310 variant) manufactured between March 6, 2025, and September 29, 2025, and 969 units of the Toyota Land Cruiser (FJA300 variant) manufactured between September 4, 2024, and September 30, 2025.

Q3. Will I have to pay for the recall repairs?

No. Voluntary manufacturer recalls concerning safety and mechanical defects are resolved free of charge to the customer at authorized dealerships.

Q4. Is it safe to continue driving my vehicle if it is on the recall list?

Because the defect involves a potential loss of motive power at high speeds, it is strongly advised to contact your dealership immediately to schedule an inspection and avoid high-speed driving until the vehicle is cleared or repaired by an authorized technician.
