KTM 390 Duke gets a new 350cc Engine – Prices updated

The Indian motorcycle market has just received an exciting update with the highly anticipated New Duke 350cc Launch. KTM India has officially launched the new 350cc iteration of the popular 390 Duke in India. This strategic 390 Duke Launch 350cc edition aims to bring the thrilling performance of the Duke line to a more accessible price bracket. For enthusiasts looking to enter the performance naked segment, the New 350cc Duke offers a highly compelling package that balances aggressive styling, revised hardware, and significant tax benefits.

Strategic Pricing and GST Benefits

One of the biggest talking points surrounding this motorcycle is the highly competitive 350cc Duke Price. The motorcycle is officially priced at Rs. 2.77 lakh. Because of this pricing strategy, the new KTM Duke 350 is close to Rs. 62,000 more affordable than the larger 399cc Duke. The primary catalyst for this substantial price drop is the engine displacement itself. By bringing the capacity below the 350cc mark, the motorcycle now falls into the 18 per cent GST category designed for under-350cc engines.

For fans of the existing larger-capacity model, KTM has confirmed that the 399cc Duke will continue to be on sale. However, the older model now carries the ‘R’ suffix to differentiate it from the New 350cc Duke.

Engine Specifications and Performance Updates

To achieve this new classification, the engine has been downsized by reducing the stroke length to 56.15mm, a decrease from the previous 64mm. The bore size, meanwhile, remains exactly the same at 89mm. Because of these mechanical alterations, the power and torque output have gone down. The new KTM Duke 350 pumps out 40.9bhp and 33.5Nm of torque, whereas the 399cc version produces 45.3bhp and 39Nm. Despite the reduction in absolute numbers, the engine promises a highly engaging and rev-happy experience characteristic of the brand.

Chassis, Dimensions, and Accessibility

When looking at the physical footprint, the New 350cc Duke is quite similar to its sibling. Tipping the scales at 168kg, the kerb weight of the new 390 Duke is lower by just 0.3kg as compared to the R model. A significant alteration, however, comes in the form of the saddle height. At 800mm, the saddle height of the downsized 390 Duke is strangely 20mm lower than its more powerful counterpart. This reduction in seat height should make the former more accessible to shorter riders, allowing for better foot placement and confidence in stop-and-go traffic.

Familiar Styling with Distinct Visual Details

Visually, the New Duke 350cc Launch retains the sharp, aggressive lines that make the motorcycle stand out on the streets. KTM has kept the overall styling and bodywork of the new 390 Duke completely unchanged. That said, the motorcycle comes in new colour options. While the names of these colours remain the same as the 399cc version, they have been given a distinctly different visual treatment to ensure the new model has its own identity on the road.

In all other hardware and feature aspects, the 350cc Duke remains the same. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels that are suspended by premium WP suspension. Braking is handled securely by a single disc at both ends, paired with switchable dual-channel ABS. Furthermore, the rider cockpit features a high-tech TFT screen that displays all vital information and is fully Bluetooth-enabled.
