Currently, Mobilio is doing the seven-seater job in this segment. Honda will be strategically placing this model above that of Mobilio, it is important to note that Honda has no plans to discontinue its popular Mobilio.
Here are five important things which you want to know about the upcoming small SUV – the Honda BR-V.
5. BR-V is the first ever small SUV from Honda
The auto manufacturers have identified a new trend and is rushing to grab some amount of market share in the small-SUV segment. Honda’s BR-V now comes at the right time when there is a booming interest level for compact SUVs in India. Honda BR-V is primarily launched to take on the likings of new Hyundai Creta, the facelift version of Renault Duster, Vitara Brezza, Nissan Terrano and Maruti S-cross.
4. Honda BR-V is a 7-seater compact SUV
Honda BR-V will certainly have an upper edge when compared to its popular other competitors in this segment like Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, as it offers the 7-seat layout. It was actually a necessity for BR-V to have a longer rear overhang in order to accommodate the 3rd row, this results in car looking slightly MPV-like from the side angle. Honda knows that the customers in this segment are going to encourage this extra space and seats. So BR-V can be a huge success if it takes off well.
3. BR-V looks less like a proper SUV
BR-V from Honda Cars would be getting an impressive 201mm ground clearance, squared fascia, chunky bumpers, flared wheel arches, roof rails, a rising beltline. The presence of body cladding makes it look similar to Mobilio.
2. Honda BR-V is based on platform shared by Brio, Amaze and Mobilio
The BR-V compact SUV from Honda is going to be based on same platform as that of Brio, Amaze and Mobilio. The all new Honda BR-V will be positioned above all these 3 models and the dashboard design of the car is going to be same as that of the recently launched Honda Amaze facelift.
1. Honda BR-V is powered by 1.5-litre engine
Honda BR-V compact SUV will be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine which you can see in Honda City and the Mobilio, although there is going to be some amount of changes in terms of tuning. Talking about the transmission, the all new Honda BR-V would be very likely getting the 5 or 6-speed manual transmission gearbox and will be also getting a CVT automatic gearbox for the Honda BR-V’s petrol variant.
