The Bharat Mobility Show or the 2025 Auto Expo had a clear theme of electrification with all carmakers present there showing EVs. There were big debuts and unveils along with crucial launches. Almost all carmakers present at the show had a new EV and it was a clear theme to bring more electrified cars.
Tata Sierra
The production version of the Sierra has been revealed and it will rival the Creta with a launch towards the end of the year. The Sierra will be launched with a 1.5 litre turbo direct injection petrol which would have 170bhp while there would be a diesel engine too. The Sierra petrol and diesel would be having a different front-end styling when compared to the EV which would have a blanked off styling theme. The Sierra will have a four-spoke illuminated logo steering wheel while interestingly it will also have a touchscreen for the passenger side along with a central touchscreen along with a digital instrument cluster ling with features like ADAS.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
The e Vitara from Maruti Suzuki is their first electric SUV and is based on the HEARTECT-e which is a dedicated EV platform. To be launched in a few months’ time, the e Vitara is a compact SUV above 4m while having distinctive design cues. It has 18-inch aero efficient wheels and a wheelbase of 2700mm which means space inside is more. The car has a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) with two battery pack sizes- 49 and 61 kwh with a claimed range of 500km plus which is expected. Features include an ADAS system, an Infinity audio system by Harman, standard 7 airbags, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and more. There are Eco, Normal and Sports drive modes and there is regenerative braking too.
Tata Harrier EV
The Harrier.EV is based on the acti.ev architecture which also underpins the Punch EV and the Curvv EV. The Harrier.ev would be the biggest electric SUV while coming with AWD which means it would have not one but two electric motors with 500Nm of torque. Which means this would be the fastest electric car which Tata Motors would make and their most luxurious with various features including remote parking and more. The styling is based on the harrier but has different aerodynamic tweaks. We expect a launch by the middle of 2025.
Hyundai Creta electric
The prices for the Creta electric have been revealed and they start at Rs 17.99 lakh. It is the first electric SUV by Hyundai in the compact segment and has a range of 473km. The top-end Excellence variants is priced at Rs 23.50 lakh. The Creta electric is based on the Creta platform while it has changes like a floating console and a different interior along with a new steering wheel. The Creta electric is on sale now.
Vinfast
The carmaker from Vietnam showed all its worldwide range including various cars occupying different price ranges. The India entry will start from the VF7 and 6 which would be premium SUV with an electric architecture plus features like vegan leather seats and a panoramic sunroof amongst others. The VF7 would be a 4.5 metre SUV with a range of around 450km while the VF6 would be smaller. The smallest VF3 though would be introduced next year.
MG Cyberster and M9
The Cyberster is the first product for the MG Select retail chain and would be launched in March with an estimated price-tag of around Rs 65-70 lakh. The Cyberster will come with a twin motor configuration and will have a claimed range of 580km. Performance is string for the Cyberster as it will do 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds with a 510bhp output. The Cyberster also has scissor doors and a lot of features while it has a soft top. The other launch is the M9 luxury van since it will have a larger battery output at 90kwh while the size is huge as it will be the biggest MPV out there. The M9 is also luxurious with various features including massage seats and ottoman seats at the second row.
Toyota Urban BEV concept
The Urban BEV concept is the first all-electric offering from Toyota while it would share its platform with the e Vitara. Both cars would be made in Gujarat and would be exported too. The Urban BEV concept would come with a twin joined screen layout and will have two battery packs including larger 61kwh battery version with a claimed range of 500km.
