Citroën Launches Basalt X with CARA: India’s First Intelligent In-Car Assistant

Citroën India has debuted its new Basalt X Range as part of its “Citroën 2.0 – Shift into the New” strategy. This new range features upgraded interiors and introduces CARA, which is being touted as India’s first and only intelligent in-car companion. According to Mr. Shailesh Hazela, CEO & MD, Stellantis India, the launch of the Basalt X with CARA marks a defining moment for Citroën India.

CARA is a key highlight of the new Basalt X. Engineered in India for global markets, this multilingual and contextually aware assistant is designed to seamlessly integrate with Citroën vehicles. It can respond naturally to “fuzzy commands” like “I’m tired” by suggesting a rest stop. CARA also monitors vehicle functions like tire pressure and fuel, while offering remote control of features such as AC pre-conditioning and door locks. Furthermore, it keeps you connected by managing music, calls, and navigation, and can provide real-time updates on things like cricket scores and weather alerts. It also prioritizes safety with a voice-triggered SOS mode, crash response, and emergency assistance. The system supports 52 Indian and global languages, with the ability to switch between them mid-conversation.

The New Basalt X Range: Exclusivity Meets Everyday Comfort

The new Basalt X is designed to blend premium interiors, enhanced convenience, and intuitive technology. It features new soft-touch leatherette on the dashboard, chic gold accents, and a bezel-less 26 cm infotainment system. The fully loaded Basalt X is launched at an introductory price of INR 12.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Key upgrades in the Basalt X range include:

  • Premium & Comfortable Interiors: The cabin has a lounge-like feel with TROPICOOL ventilated seats, diffused ambient lighting, and a redesigned gear lever. It also offers class-leading second-row comfort with a segment-first smart tilt cushion and winged headrests.
  • Advanced Technology & Safety: The car comes with Proxi-Sense™ PEPS (Passive Entry and Push Start), Cruise Control with a Speed Limiter, a HALO 360° camera system with 7 viewing modes, and an auto-dimming Electrochromic IRVM. It also features 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Control, TPMS, and a Perimetric Alarm as standard. The body is made of 85% high-grade steel for enhanced security.
  • Design & Performance: The Basalt maintains the confident stance of an SUV with the sleek silhouette of a coupé. It is powered by Citroën’s PureTech engines: a 1.2L Gen 3 Turbo and a PureTech 82 NA, with transmission options including 5MT, 6MT, and 6AT.

Deliveries of the Basalt X are scheduled to begin during the upcoming festive season.
