Honda 2 Wheelers sells 4.49 lakh units in October 2015
India’s 2nd largest 2-wheeler manufacturer, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Ltd has created a history by posting an all time highest monthly sales of 4.49 lakhs in October 2015. The rise in sales number in October can be directly co-related to festive season in India.
The Japanese automaker, Honda 2 Wheelers also became the highest volume gainer of 2 Wheeler industry in October 2015 which was backed by blockbuster customer buying
The company also became the highest market share gainer as well – Domestic market share is 26% (1% up) and Domestic +Export 24%(2% up).
Honda registered a remarkable growth of 19% in October’15 which is nearly double that of the 10% growth of 2Wheeler industry, compared to same month last year.
Honda is the ‘Highest market share gainer’ of 2Wheeler industry as its market share zoomed 2% points to 24% in domestic and export markets.
Honda’s automatic scooters led the scooterization of the industry. Growing a phenomenal 36% growth, Honda sold 270,371 scooters in Oct’15.
Festive sales trend
Honda set out new records in the month by breaching 3 lakh retail mark during the Navratra -Dusshera period. Finishing Navratra on a high, retails crossed 90,000 unit on Dusshera day– which is the highest single day sales for Honda 2Wheelers in 2015.
Noteworthy that despite rural distress negatively impacting the entry level 110cc motorcycle segment since last Nov’14, Honda’s motorcycle sales were robust during festive season. CB Shine – India’s No. 1 selling 125cc motorcycle and Dream Yuga emerged as top-sellers in semi-urban and rural markets respectively.
Interestingly Honda’s newly-launched 110cc motorcycle LIVO crossed 5 figure sales mark during Navratra -Dusshera period, reflecting the paradigm shift in consumption pattern of the entry level segment and preference for stylish aspirational product in this 110 cc motorcycles category.
Performance in April’15-October’15:
Growing 5 times faster the 2Wheeler industry in India, Honda sold a total of 27.21 lac units during April – October 2015 strengthening its market share by 3% to 26%.
