With Make In India getting popular among manufacturers, Honda have some news for Indians. As of now Honda imports all its High end bikes ranging from Rs.14 lakhs to Rs.31 Lakhs from outside Indian Territory.
“India is still a predominantly commuter motorcycle market but we are looking to tap the higher-end, enthusiasts segment. Our aim is to make the high-end segment affordable by assembling in India,” HMSI President and CEO Keita Muramatsu.
He further added that Honda will start selling its Honda CBR 650 which will be completely assembled in India. And based on the market demand Honda will expand its assembly line to hook up with Demand.
According to Honda, CBR 650 will be available in first half of 2015.As of Honda has a good share in India market and there is increase in sales. In terms of Premium vehicles Honda sells Gold Wing 1800, VT1300 CX, VFR1200F, CBR1000 RR and CB1000 R in Indian Market.
In sub 10 lakh range Honda have sold 3,000 vehicles annually and hence CBR 650 will be major unit to make a good impact in Indian Market.
We can wait and see how a Indian Assembled vehicle performs on Road.
