Hyundai Motor India Ltd, country’s first smart mobility solutions provider and the largest exporter since inception, today showcased the ultimate engineering capability of its latest SUV – the all-new Hyundai TUCSON, with an expedition comprising of 10 units of the all-new Hyundai TUCSON scaling the heights of the fabled Zoji La pass despite encountering extremely challenging weather and terrain.

Setting out from Srinagar, the convoy comprising only of the all-new Hyundai TUCSON began its journey to scale the heights of Zoji La Pass also known as the Mountain Pass of Blizzards. The convoy’s ascent commenced from Sonamarg. Crossing over challenging terrain and roads laden with a fresh coat of snow and ice, the all-new Hyundai TUCSON displayed impeccable engineering capability as it scaled the heights of Zoji La pass at 11,649 ft. With on ground temperatures at the time, ranging from -3˚C to -14˚C, the Zoji La pass meted out some of the harshest and inhospitable climatic conditions experienced in this region, during this time of the year. The convoy of all-new Hyundai TUCSON drove 124 Kms from Sonamarg to Kargil in sub-zero temperatures, snow/ icy road conditions in twilight.
The challenging terrain and weather conditions, resulted in the ultimate proving ground for the all-new Hyundai TUCSON. Equipped with HTRAC All-Wheel Drive, the all-new Hyundai TUCSON was ready to tackle every obstacle thrown its way. Empowering drivers to take on challenging roads while offering them different terrain modes ensured the journey was smooth. Using Multi Terrain Modes – drivers were able to adjust the powertrain to suit challenging road and weather conditions for SNOW, MUD and SAND settings thereby ensuring maximum traction when the going got really tough.
Powered by R 2.0 l diesel engine, offering a max power of 137 kW (186 PS) / 4 000 r/min (Best in Segment) and Max torque of 416 Nm (42.42 kgm) / 2 000~2 750 r/min (Best in Segment), the all-new Hyundai TUCSON offered impeccable performance. The expedition comprising of the all-new Hyundai TUCSON, were all stock models and were not equipped with any specialist equipment, special tires or snow chains. Convoy members driving the all-new Hyundai TUCSON also remarked on the significant levels of grip and traction provided by the SUV even while encountering snow and ice over the roads, while being comfortable in the cabin thanks to Dual Zone FATC and heated seats.
