Mercedes-Benz S400 official launch on March 29 2016
Mercedes-Benz, popular luxury car maker will be launching the S400 with a new engine variant on 29th of March. Already there are lot of different variants available for S-class in India, some of them being the S350d diesel, S500 petrol which are sold in long-wheelbase guise, and the extra-long-wheelbase Mercedes-Maybach S-class in S500 as well as S600 guises, not to forget the heavily armoured ‘S 600 Guard’ variants and also the high-performance 577bhp AMG S 63 car.
In the past, we have already seen the ‘400’ suffix before, with the E-class cabriolet, which implies that the new S shall make use a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, direct-injection petrol V6 engine, the car produces 329bhp of power and 49kgm of torque.
The engine on the offer is the company’s 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic gearbox, and it is very unclear yet if this could shift up to more new 9-speed gearbox that is making its way through Mercedes Benz’s model range.
Expect the mechanical package of Mercedes-Benz S-Class to include standard air suspension at all 4 corners, as well as rear-wheel drive (RWD).
Until then, if anyone wanted a petrol engine within the S-class, the most affordable option was the S 500 that comes with twin-turbo V8. The introduction of S400 is going to change that as the car is offering up smooth, silent petrol refinement offering a good fuel efficiency as well.
