Mitsubishi had discontinued their Montero SUV 2 years ago and now they have re-launched it with small updates in the design and re-tuned engine. There have been a few launches in the luxury SUV segment in India this year and Mitsubishi is quite late to the party. The front of the Montero get revised front bumber and air dams, DRL’s are neatly integrated into the bumper close to the fog lamps. Montero gets horizontal lined front Grille and the side profile remains to look the same as the previous model. Rear fog lamps help for better night driving.
The engine on the Montero remains the same 3.2 litre, 16-valve DOHC, direct injection diesel engine which is now tuned to give out 192 bhp @3,800 rpm and a max torque of 441 Nm @2,000 rpm. This SUV comes mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission and comes with 4-modes which are, 2-WD high, 4-WD high, 4-WD high with locked cebter differential and 4-WD low with locked center differential.
Montero comes packed with features like, All wheel control (AWC), active stability and traction control (ASTC), anti lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and a whole lot more. There is a centre information display to relay navigation information, altitude and fuel consumption.
Montero will be available in 7 different colors across India and comes at a hefty price tag of INR 71.06 lakh rupees. The Mitsubishi Montero is said to take on the Volvo XC90, Audi Q7, Toyota land cruiser and similar premium SUV’s. The Montero will be brought to India through the CBU format which explains the heavy price.
