Hyundai recently launched an facelifted model of the i20 in India and also for global market. Hyundai i20 is one of the best seller in India .The new generation of i20 is expected to reached India in the next 2-3 years time. A Korean website has spotted a test car which is based on i20 Active with the design similar to the current model . Hyundai is planning to develop a new entry level SUV based on i20 Active or Kia’s Picanto platform, the manufacturer has not yet to confirm which platform they will use . This test car spotted might be new SUV which is going to be developed based on i20 Active platform or the next-gen Active itself.

Reports suggested that the Hyundai is planning to launch a SUV based on the i20 platform in 2022. It will be manufactured at Hyundai’s new plant in Gwangju.
Powertrain possibility
Hyundai could offer three options of engine 1.0 liter , 1.2 liter and 1.0 liter turbocharged engines for SUV and will be mated to a 5 speed manual and automatic transmission.
Dimensions
Takeing about dimensions , it can be around the size of i20 , four wheel drive system may not be available since the SUV will be a urban runner placed below new sub 4 metre segment
If Hyundai brings i20 based SUV to India it will help the brand gain for traction in terms of sales considering the demand for Crossovers in India. The final product might look completely different as the prototype evolves .
