Ola Electric today announced the commencement of deliveries of the S1 Pro+ (5.2kWh), making it the first product to be powered by the company’s indigenously developed and manufactured 4680 Bharat Cell. This milestone is a “giant leap towards achieving true energy independence,” according to an Ola Electric spokesperson.

With its own battery packs in the vehicles, Ola Electric is now India’s first company to fully own the battery pack and cell manufacturing process in-house. The 4680 Bharat Cell is engineered to deliver more range, better performance, and enhanced safety.

Performance and Safety Benchmarks

The S1 Pro+ (5.2kWh) is a premium scooter that sets new standards for range and safety in the electric two-wheeler market:

  • Impressive Range: The scooter comes with an impressive range of 320km (IDC with DIY mode).
  • Unmatched Performance: It is powered by a 13 kW motor offering a brisk acceleration of 0-40 kmph in just 2.1 seconds.
  • Safety: It offers enhanced safety with category-first dual ABS and disc brakes in the front and rear.
  • Riding Modes: The S1 Pro+ includes four riding modes: Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco.

Ola Electric recently secured ARAI certification for its indigenously developed and manufactured 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs in the 5.2 kWh configuration, meeting the latest AIS-156 Amendment 4 standards.

Design and Product Portfolio

The S1 Pro+ (5.2kWh) features enhanced ergonomics and comfort, including a two-tone seat with supportive foam, body-coloured mirrors, a new die-cast aluminium grab handle, and an expanded colour palette. The colour palette includes Passion Red, Porcelain White, Industrial Silver, Jet Black, Stellar Blue, and Midnight Blue.

Ola Electric currently offers an expansive portfolio of S1 scooters and Roadster X motorcycles. The premium S1 Gen 3 portfolio, including the S1 Pro+ (5.2kWh), is priced starting at ₹ 1,90,338 (for the 5.2kWh configuration).

Manufacturing and R&D Ecosystem

Ola Electric’s cell technology enables the company to build products with greater range, performance, and safety—all designed and made in India.

  • Manufacturing Hub: EVs and critical components are produced at the Ola Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu, which is developing India’s most significant EV hub.
  • R&D: The company’s R&D efforts span India, the UK, and the US, and are supported by the Bengaluru-based Battery Innovation Centre (BIC).
  • Distribution: Ola maintains a direct-to-customer distribution network with more than 4,000 stores across India and a robust online presence.
