Tesla Powers Up India: Unveils First Supercharging Station in Mumbai
Weeks after making its much-anticipated entry into the Indian market, Tesla has launched its first charging facility in the country at One BKC (Bandra-Kurla Complex) in Mumbai. This strategic move reinforces the company’s commitment to establishing a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India, starting with its first showroom and now its own charging network in the financial capital.

The new facility, situated within an upscale commercial building, features a mix of charging options to meet different needs. It includes four V4 Supercharging Stalls (DC fast chargers) and four Destination Charging Stalls (AC chargers).
Charging Speeds and Pricing
The Tesla Supercharging Stalls offer a peak charging speed of 250 kW, with a charging fee of ₹24 per kWh. According to reports, this can add up to 267 km of range to a Model Y in just 15 minutes. The Destination chargers provide 11 kW of power at a rate of ₹14 per kWh.
Expansion Plans and Model Y Delivery Timeline
This launch is just the beginning of Tesla’s charging infrastructure expansion in India. The company plans to open three more charging stations in Mumbai by the end of September, with facilities slated for Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai.
This development closely follows Tesla’s India debut on July 15, which was marked by the opening of its first Experience Centre in Mumbai and the launch of the Model Y electric SUV. The Model Y is being offered in two variants: a rear-wheel drive model starting at ₹59.89 lakh and a long-range rear-wheel drive version at a base price of ₹67.89 lakh. Deliveries for the Model Y are expected to begin in the third and fourth quarters of 2025, respectively, for the two variants.
Both Model Y variants are imported as completely built units (CBUs) from Tesla’s Shanghai manufacturing facility in China.
