We at GaadiKey had an opportunity to talk to Mr. Bojan Jankulovski, Head of Operations, Maserati India – Italian Super luxury carmaker. Bojan was kind enough to answer questions on wide variety of topics like Maserati brand, Electrification, Maserati’s product line up for India, Festive season, service network and overall presence in India. Find the full conversation details below.

GaadiKey: Very recently Maserati delivered a Levante Hybrid car in Mumbai. There seems to be a great following for the brand Maserati. Why do you think your customers are enthusiastic about the brand Maserati? Your thoughts on people going after Hybrid cars?

Bojan Jankulovsk: Maserati has been synonymous with class and luxury amongst people for decades now. Maserati as a brand not only focuses on good looking, modern and stylish cars, but also on better performing engines, gears, and the machinery overall. With the introduction of hybrid cars, Maserati has segued into sustainability with their cars. With people becoming more conscious of the consequences of their actions, hybrid cars seem like the perfect choice to contribute towards the betterment of the environment. That’s one of the reasons why people are going after hybrid cars.

GaadiKey: What is your plan for the upcoming festive season in India where auto enthusiasts are expected to make big ticket purchases?

Bojan Jankulovsk: Festive seasons are big for all brands, from clothing and accessory to luxury and lifestyle brands, it’s a heavy sales period. And we’re also expecting quite some purchases, like every year.

As for a plan, like other brands these days, we’re also focusing on an online digital strategy because online sales are becoming a trend now.

GaadiKey: Can you talk about the global following for the brand Maserati and what it intends to do in India? How are you building a niche community of people loving exotic cars like Maserati in India?

Bojan Jankulovsk: Being a super-luxury carmaker, we chase value over volumes. Our focus is towards providing extraordinary customer experiences and constantly bettering our brand presence in the country.

Thus, we foresee a sizeable surge in demand going forward, but in terms of business strategy, our focus will continue to remain on exclusivity and after-sales service to create a superior ownership experience for our customers.

GaadiKey: Can you name a few of your products in the current portfolio (for India) as well as the upcoming one’s that appeals to a race car lover who is purely after performance and unique design?

Bojan Jankulovsk: The first new Maserati appeared in 2020, i.e. Super sports car, Maserati MC20, which will be the first Maserati model to exploit the new V6 engine – Nettuno to be produced in the Modena plant

– Furthermore, there was the launch of the Trofeo range of Levante & Quattroporte which is a big focus for us in the Indian market. Armoured with one of the most powerful engines ever fitted in a Maserati, it is built around a V8 engine. The Levante is one of the fastest SUVs ever built, boasting a top speed of 304 km/h.

– Also, on the cards is the new Maserati SUV – Grecale and it is destined to play a key role for the Brand. The India launch is yet to be announced.

?

– With the Brand’s first electrified SUV, Maserati takes a major step forward in its strategy for electrification, which began last year with the Ghibli Hybrid followed by the Levante Hybrid SUV that combines the 4 cylinders, 2-litre engine with a 48-volt Hybrid system to recover energy during deceleration and braking.

– The New GranTurismo and GranCabrio will herald the full electrification era for Maserati. The India launch is yet to be announced.

GaadiKey: How can someone experience the brand Maserati in India? Most of your target audience seem to be exposed to global markets where more Maserati’s are common. Is there a particular plan to woo auto enthusiasts in India that are less exposed to international countries and brand Maserati, but always wanted to own the best-in-class luxury car brand?

Bojan Jankulovsk: To provide the experience of luxury to its customers, Maserati continues to be exclusive and brings excellent craftsmanship with their impeccably designed cars. With stores in selected cities currently, we are focusing on expanding and having stores in other Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities apart from the usual Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore. This will help us reach our customers in the other cities and provide them a great experience of the best-in-class luxury car brand Maserati.
