Japanese 2 wheeler manufacturer Yamaha, has set itself an objective to sell around 30,000 units of vehicles per month. The statement from Yamaha looks like a natural push, as the company added a brand new scooter named Yamaha Fascino which looks quite promising in the growing 2 wheeler market in India. Before Fascino, the company used to sell around 20,000 units of vehicles per month, the new objective essentially wants Yamaha to increase its overall sales by 50%.
Last month, Yamaha launched Saluto commuter motorcycle to take on the likes of commuter bikes from Honda Motorcycles and Scooters Limited (HMIL) like Honda Shine and Dream Yuga.
With the newly launched Yamaha Fascino, the company wants to directly target India’s insanely popular Honda Activa scooters. The Yamaha Fascino joined its family of well-established Yamaha scooters like Yamaha Ray, Yamaha Ray and Yamaha Alpha. The Japanese automaker thinks that Fascino can change their fortunes by attracting the Honda Activa crowd towards them.
The company is looking to further increase its sales number to 40,000 units per month as it heads towards the festive season, generally the time where scooter sales reaches the peak.
Mr Roy Kurien who is the Vice President of sales & marketing at Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd said,
“With Fascino we think we will be able to come into the consideration set of scooter buyers, which so far was a challenge. Fascino is a unisex model and it will appeal to different set of buyers. We should be able to increase our monthly scooter volumes by 50% immediately.”
Yamaha Fascino is a powered by 113cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine which runs on its proprietary “BLUE CORE” technology. The lightweight body of Yamaha Fascino shall help the scooter to deliver a fuel efficiency at 66 kmpl which actually outbeats the mileage of Honda Activa or Suzuki Access.
Yamaha has also planned to add 200 more dealers by end of 2015 to reach the count of 600 dealerships in India.
