48,000 Ford EcoSport Diesel recalled in India

Popular American car maker, Ford has voluntarily recalled 48,000 diesel EcoSport models that are manufactured between April 2013 and June 2014. Along with the older EcoSport models, over 700 recently manufactured EcoSport ( that were manufactured between Jan 2016 and Feb 2016) have also been recalled for a different issue than the former. This is not the first time, Ford had earlier recalled EcoSport in the month of November 2015 in order to rectify an issue that was found with the rear suspension of the vehicle.

The 48,000 Ford EcoSport Diesel units are recalled in order to install a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines, whereas the 700 recently manufactured EcoSport units are being called in order to replace the bolts on the split folding rear bench.

The American carmaker said in a press statement that

The 40 percent rear seat backrest might have been assembled with bolts that do not meet Ford’s material specification and therefore could be prone to failure.

The owners of these Ford EcoSport models who are affected by the recall can get in touch with their local dealerships to have these faulty parts replaced at no cost. The voluntary recall is Ford’s 2nd in 2 months with the automaker previously recalling the Figo and Figo Aspire over a glitch in the car’s safety airbags which could affect the unit’s deployment.
