Skoda will be coming up with a performance variant of its upcoming all-electric model the Vision E Concept under eRS branding. The new models will be based on the VW group’s new MEB bespoke electric platform with the combination of accessible performance and subtle styling upgrades.
The Vision E Concept was first revealed in the 2017 Frankfurt motor show and is expected to go on sale by the end of 2020. The upcoming all-electric model will Share many core components from VW’s own I.D hatchback, it’s this model that is likely to be the first to feature the eRS branding.
Alain Favey, Skoda’s board member for sales and marketing, confirmed:
There will be electric versions of vRS – eRS. The logic is the same, it’s not about performance as such. It’s about the experience, and that’s something we can do very well in our future electric cars
Skoda will only offer its all-electric model with one battery output, and the eRS treatment will consist of chassis tuning and re-jigged styling. Skoda is aiming for a 300-mile range for the new model . Skoda’s all-electric model is expected to cost a little more than Skoda’s current range, we assume it will cost in a range of 30-35 lakhs due to the large battery pack required to reach that range.
