Porsche to introduce more cars, expand network in India
All thanks to the growing economic indicators and raise in influx of Millionaires in the country. Porsche is now eyeing at Indian market and wants to go full-fledge in introducing new cars from its portfolio with special focus on increasing its network base in India. This shall help Porsche to stand along with other existing luxury car manufacturers equally.
Mr Pavan Shetty who is the newly appointed director for Porsche India, in an exclusive interview to Autocar Professional gave an insight about the company’s priorities and also revealed few details on upcoming products from Porsche India.
The first plan for us is to reach our customers and for that, we will increase our representation in the country. We will add more dealers in the coming months. We will have a dealer in Chennai and another in Hyderabad and also improve upon the existing service facilities
Mr Shetty said.
Talking about the dealerships and expansion plans, Mr Shetty said:
We would rather have no dealers than wrong dealers for Porsche. It is going to be a strict process and hopefully, by next year we would have two more at least
Keeping the growing demand for luxury cars in mind, Porsche’s wishlist makes sense. The plans for network expansion can be attributed to the strong forecast for luxury car sales in India.
Currently Porsche has 6 dealerships and 8 service centres in India at major cities such as Mumbai, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Kochi.
Upcoming Porsche Models in India
The German luxury car maker, Porsche, which imports its range of cars would be launching 2 new models this year, sparing the already unveiled 911 range. Porsche India has already started bookings for the Porsche 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster even before its official launch. The cars have price tags of Rs 80.13 lakhs and Rs 83.95 lakhs respectively (both ex-showroom Mumbai).
Porsche India eyes Used Car Business
Other than increasing new car showrooms, Porsche India is now planning to enter the used car business in India. Mr Pavan Shetty said that they are now waiting for the right moment to tap the surging demand for used luxury cars in India.
