In the month of April of 2021, Royal Enfield had organized a special session to provide a professional training on riding on flat tracks – this is a part of their SlideSchool initiative. I was one of them who was fortunate enough to get some training on how exactly to slide on flat-tracks, you can read my experience in the blog post linked. I realized something very important post that event – the importance of wearing right riding gears. I had under estimated the point of wearing plentiful riding gears – thinking it creates lot of discomfort.
I genuinely realized the need for wearing riding gears like riding boots and knee guards when I was asked to slide my legs on the dirt flat-track and learnt myself how much of protection the gears offer against any physical damage. I realized how confidently one can ride on the road with all the gears in tact.
Some of the riding gears are quite basic like Helmet which you will be already knowing and of course its legally necessary to wear in most cities of India. In this article I am just making an honest attempt to list all the necessary riding gears which keeps you safe while riding. Royal Enfield Helmets are ISI Certified and are well tested, you can explore variety of helmet options like different designs, graphics, based on half-faced or full faced etc. Make sure you measure your head size with an inch tape and decide between M, L or XL. The one which I chose was L, but I genuinely felt I should have chosen XL as it could have been more airy. So choose your helmet size wisely.

Riding boots are necessary especially when you are long riding. It guards your lower leg well and insulates you from any adverse external factors like engine heat, physical damage etc. It is important for you to fully cover your leg by wearing good quality riding shoes or riding boots.
