The Electric G 580 is a fusion of tradition, of progress embracing into future mobility, like few other vehicles in Mercedes-Benz’s portfolio.
In addition, the line-up at Bharat Mobility 2025 comprises the much-awaited Long Wheelbase E-Class E 450 4MATIC luxury sedan. Mercedes-Benz pavilion is themed on “Arena of Desire: Driving Desire, Tech Pioneers & Sustainability Drivers”.
G-TURN:
With the G-TURN, the G 580 performs up to two complete vehicle turns in the desired direction on unpaved or loose surfaces. This not only looks spectacular but can also be helpful when driving off-road– for example, if an obstacle ahead makes it impossible to continue forward. The four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels develop a maximum total output of 432 kW. Together with the selectable LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction, this allows G-TURN to turn the vehicle almost on the spot on loose or unpaved surfaces.
Manoeuvring a G-TURN’:
The four independently driven wheels can rotate the vehicle to the left or right as required. To do this, the wheels on the right and left sides of the vehicle turn in opposite directions. To start the function, the vehicle must be stationary on a level surface with the doors closed, the front wheels in the straight-ahead position and the brake pedal depressed. In addition, the “D” transmission setting must be engaged, the “Rock” driving programme selected and the LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction switched on. Only then can drivers activate the function using the corresponding button on the off-road control unit.
They can select the desired direction of rotation by pulling and holding the left or right steering wheel shift paddle. To start the G-TURN, drivers must then hold the steering wheel, release the brake pedal and press the accelerator pedal. After two complete vehicle revolutions, G-TURN is automatically cancelled. Drivers can also cancel the function manually at any time by releasing the steering wheel shift paddle or the accelerator pedal.
